"STATE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE" AGENCY FINDS JOBS FOR 5049 JOB SEEKERS Published on 21 August, 2009
As of August 1 of the running year the unemployment rate in Armenia increased by 0.7 per cent as compared with the beginning of the year making it 7%. Head of the "State Employment Service" agency of the Armenian Labor and Social Affairs Ministry Sona Harutyunyan told today the reporters that as of August 1, there are 101,000 job seekers which is 9.2% more as compared with the same span of the past year.
About 84,700 of the job seekers are unemployed: they make 83.8% of the total number of job seekers. 71.1% of them are women. S. Harutyunyan said that the real unemployment rate differs from the official one and it is natural as not all people are getting registered in the agency.
As of late July, 25,046 unemployed had a right of getting unemployment allowance, as compared with June their number increased by 1339.
During July 1149 vacancies have been presented to the agency. The jobs of doctors, teachers, agents and drivers remain vacant.
As of August 1, as a result of the activity of employment service's territorial centers 5049 job seekers found jobs which is 6.3% more as compared with the same span of the past year.
The agency is also carrying out a number of programs to smooth issues in the labor market connected with competitiveness of job seekers organizing classes and trainings for them.
